The story of the Good Samaritan is a good illustration of how one must define the term "neighbor" and explain the need for us to act with compassion and mercy toward others. In Ohio today, too many of our neighbors are living in poverty. We must work together to help our neighbors in important and meaningful ways.
In my administration, the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives will play a key role in bringing together government and community organizations and other nonprofits to reduce poverty and meet needs throughout the state.
