Shannon D. Teague brings more than 15 years of professional experience specializing in the fields of mental health, substance abuse, adult and juvenile corrections, community benefit partnerships, and public support programs. In her current role as director of The Ohio Benefit Bank in the Office of Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, Teague is responsible for leading a unique statewide effort involving public and private partners working together to expand access to work supports and benefits for low and moderate income Ohioans. This innovative web platform includes a network of organizations and individuals throughout Ohio.

Prior to being named director of the Ohio Benefit Bank, Teague served as administrator of the Office of Community Partnerships at the Ohio Department of Youth Services (ODYS). In this position, Teague was responsible for oversight of reentry initiatives, faith-based and community partnerships and public/private ventures within the state’s juvenile correctional system. Throughout her 11-year tenure at ODYS, Teague also served in a number of other positions including unit manager, assistant administrator in the Office of Substance Abuse Services, and superintendent of three juvenile correctional facilities including Freedom Center, Mohican Juvenile Correctional Facility and Scioto Juvenile Correctional Facility.

Prior to working at ODYS, Teague served as a social worker providing counseling services for mentally-disabled adult male inmates with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

In 1994, Teague began her professional career as a team leader for Southeast, Inc. Mental Health and Recovery Care Services in Columbus, Ohio. In this role she managed a team who provided services to severely mentally disabled or recovering adults.

Teague, a native of Akron, Ohio, graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology/sociology and a Master of Education in counselor education and rehabilitation. She is a Licensed Social Worker and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor.
