GOFBCI Mission and Vision

Under the leadership of Governor John R. Kasich, the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (GOFBCI) will provide multiple forms of support and assistance to faith-based and community organizations. The office will serve as the liaison between faith-based and community organizations (FBCO) and state government to assist them in navigating state policy and interfacing with state systems. The GOFBCI will be an advocate within government to cut through the red-tape and bureaucracy that impedes the work of FBCOs and will connect charitable organizations to resources and each other to leverage relationships, time, and talents in order to maximize the impact of their work.

Mission:

As stated in the initial legislation, Ohio Revised Code 107.12 our mission is four-fold:

  1. Inform organizations of funding opportunities
  2. Encourage organizations to seek funding opportunities;
  3. Assist organizations to maximize resources; and
  4. Communicate barriers and advise the governor, general assembly, and the advisory board on barriers to collaboration between organizations and governmental entities and on ways to remove them.

Vision:

The Governor's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives is committed to promoting interfaith dialogue and cooperation and supporting the development of local community collaborative efforts to solve problems. The office will engage in core functions that are consistent with the policy goals of the Governor, inform faith-based groups, non-profit organizations, and people motivated by their faith to serve others of resource opportunities, and assist them by offering technical assistance, and communication to maximize their resources to provide comprehensive services to Ohioians.
