Fourteen Companies Expected to Invest $81.8 Million, Impacting 2,401 Jobs

COLUMBUS - Today Governor John R. Kasich announced the approval of assistance for 14 projects set to create 662 jobs and retain 1,739 jobs statewide. During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Collectively, the projects are expected to result in $ 32,570,620 in new pay roll, and spur approximately $ 81.8 m illion in investment across Ohio. This is continued good news for Ohio’s economy, coming on the heels of news last Friday that Ohio’s unemployment rate fell to a 13 - year low of 4.8 percent. That is a significant reductio n from the 9.1 percent unemployment rate in January 2011. That same period saw an inc rease of 285,200 private sector jobs.

Projects approved by the TCA include:

CENTRAL

Aspen Energy Corporation, City of Dublin (Franklin Co.) expects to create 45 full - time positions, generating $2.7 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $2.9 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Dublin (Franklin Co.). Aspen Energy is an energy co nsultation firm. The TCA approved a 45 percent, six - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Benchmark Education Company LLC, City of Groveport (Franklin Co.) expects to create 49 full - time positions, generating $1.8 million in annual payroll as a r esult of the company’s new location project in the City of Groveport (Franklin Co.). Benchmark Education produces literacy materials for supplementary and intervention use with K - 12 students. The TCA approved a 45 percent, seven - year Job Creation Tax Credi t for this project.

J & R Schugel Trucking, Inc., City of Columbus (Franklin Co.) expects to create 20 full - time positions, generating $1 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $588,641 in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Columbus (Franklin Co.). J & R Schugel provides temperature controlled cargo delivery services nationwide. The TCA approved a 40 percent, five - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Precision Tower Products LLC, City of Delaware (Delaware Co.) expects to create 35 full - time positions, generating $2.6 million in annual payroll as a result of the company’s new project in the City of Delaware (Delaware Co.). Precision Tower Products fabricates and installs reinforcement pieces for the cell tower industry.  The TCA approved a 45 percent, seven - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

The Laserflex Corporation, City of Hilliard (Franklin Co.) expects to create 30 full - time positions, generating $1.2 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $3.3 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Hilliard (Franklin Co.). Laserflex is a precision custom metal fabrication, welding and assembly company that does precision fiber o ptic metal cutting. The TCA approved a 40 percent, five - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Vantage Point Logistics, LLC, City of Columbus (Franklin Co.) expects to create 20 full - time positions, generating $1.2 million in additional annual pay roll and retaining $812,172 in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Columbus (Franklin Co.). Vantage Point Logistics has developed software specific to inbound shipping for institutions of higher education. The TCA approved a 40 percent, five - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

SOUTHWEST

FirstGroup Americ a, Inc. & Affiliates, City of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.) expects to create 75 full - time positions, generating $3.9 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $28 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.). FirstGroup is a transport operator in the UK and North America. The TCA approved a 45 percent, six - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Frutarom USA Inc., West Chester Township (Butler Co.) expects to create 45 full - time positions, generating $2.5 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $3.7 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in West Chester Township (Butler Co.). Frutarom creates, develops, manufactures and markets a variety of flavors and ingredients in the food, beverage and other industries. The TCA approved a 50 percent, six - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Metcut Research Associates Inc. and Cincinnati Testing Laboratories, Inc., Cities of Cincinnati and Forest Park (Hamilton Co.) expect to create 15 full - time positions, generating $875,000 in additional annual payroll and retaining $10 million in existing payroll as a result of the companies’ expansion projects in the cities of Cincinnati and Fores t Park (Hamilton Co.). Metcut Research Inc. and its subsidiary Cincinnati Testing Laboratories conduct independent materials engineering and testing. The TCA approved a 35 percent, five - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

NPW - USA, Inc., City of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.) expects to create 17 full - time positions, generating $1.5 million in additional annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location project in the city of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.). NPW designs gift ideas with decorative pack aging for the home furnishing, personal care and toy industries. The TCA approved a 40 percent, six - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

The Gorilla Glue Company, City of Sharonville (Hamilton Co.) expects to create 110 full - time positions, gene rating $5 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $11.5 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Sharonville (Hamilton Co.). The Gorilla Glue Company manufactures adhesive solutions for DIYers, wo odworkers and professionals. The TCA approved a 55 percent, seven - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

WESTERN

Alkermes, Inc., Union Township (Clinton Co.) expects to create 51 full - time positions, generating $3.2 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $17.5 million i n existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in Union Township (Clinton Co.). Alkermes, Inc. is a global biopharmaceutical company.  The TCA approved a 50 percent, seven - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Saia - Burgess LLC, City of Vandalia (Montgomery Co.) expects to create 100 full - time positions, generating $3 million in additional ann ual payroll and retaining $10.5 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Vandalia (Montgomery Co.). Saia - Burgess supplies stepper motors, switches, actuators and electronic controllers to customers within th e automotive, industrial and infrastructure automation industry. The TCA approved a 50 percent, eight - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

NORTHWEST

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, Inc., Perrysburg Township (Wood Co.) expects to create 50 full - time positions, generating $2.2 million in annual payroll and retaining $11.5 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in Perrysburg Township (Wood Co.). Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope makes architectural and construction building products in the U.S. and Canada. The TCA approved a 45 percent, six - year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
