Statewide Projects Create Largest Single-Month for New Job Commitments in More Than a Decade

Nearly 4,000 Jobs to Be Created, $293 Million in Private Investment

COLUMBUS - Today Governor John R. Kasich announced the approval of assistance for 14 projects set to create 3,977 jobs and retain 935 jobs statewide. During their monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Collectively the projects are expected to result in more than $136 million in new payroll, and spur nearly $300 million in investment across Ohio.

Projects approved by the TCA include:

NORTHEAST

Abeona Therapeutics Inc., City of Cleveland (Cuyahoga Co.) expects to create 20 full-time positions, generating $2.4 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $215,000 in existing payroll as a result of the company’s new project in the City of Cleveland (Cuyahoga Co.). Abeona Therapeutics focuses on advancing gene therapy and plasma-based products for rare diseases. The TCA approved a 45 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

A-Brite LP, City of Cleveland (Cuyahoga Co.) expects to create 104 full-time positions, generating $2.7 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $6.1 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Cleveland (Cuyahoga Co). A-Brite specializes in plating on plastics and other materials, primarily for components in the auto industry. The TCA approved a 45 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

CENTRAL

Air Waves, Inc., Orange Township (Delaware Co.) expects to create 30 full-time positions, generating $725,000 in additional annual payroll and retaining $2.6 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in Orange Township (Delaware Co.). Air Waves is a Business-to-Business custom apparel decorating manufacturer for iron-on, heat transfers, digital heat transfer papers, and heat transfer processes. The TCA approved a 35 percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Amazon.com.dedc, LLC (Amazon), Etna Township (Licking Co.) and the Village of Obetz (Franklin Co.) expects to create 2,000 full-time positions, generating $60 million in annual payroll as a result of the company’s new project in Etna Township (Licking Co.) and the Village of Obetz (Franklin Co.). Amazon is an electronic commerce company. The TCA approved a 75 percent, 15-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A., Inc. (Hino), City of Gahanna (Franklin Co.) expects to create 50 full-time positions, generating $1.8 million in annual payroll as a result of the company’s new project in the City of Gahanna (Franklin Co.). Hino manufactures Class 6 & 7 trucks in the United States, and supplies Toyota with axles and suspension components. Hino also distributes service parts to wholesalers in Latin America and the Caribbean. The TCA approved a 40 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

MBA Focus, LLC., City of Dublin (Franklin Co.) expects to create 22 full-time positions, generating $1.1 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $2.3 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Dublin (Franklin Co.). MBA Focus provides recruitment technology, connecting employers with students and alumni from graduate business schools and professional associations. The TCA approved a 40 percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Middle West Spirits, LLC, City of Columbus (Franklin Co.) expects to create 25 full-time positions, generating $950,000 in additional annual payroll and retaining $250,000 in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Columbus (Franklin Co.). Middle West Spirits produces a variety of artisan spirits including whiskey, vodka and bourbon. The TCA approved a 35 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Saama Technologies, City of Worthington (Franklin Co.) expects to create 90 full-time positions, generating $7.2 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $776,664 in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Worthington (Franklin Co.). Saama Technologies is a data analytics company for the life sciences, insurance, consumer products and manufacturing industries. The TCA approved a 55 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

SOUTHWEST

DownTime Reduction, Incorporated, Village of Woodlawn (Hamilton Co.) expects to create 12 full-time positions, generating $660,000 in additional annual payroll and retaining $446,708 in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the Village of Woodlawn (Hamilton Co.). DownTime Reduction is a maintenance, repair and installation company. The TCA approved a 35 percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Hydrotech, Inc., West Chester Township (Butler Co.) expects to create 14 full-time positions, generating $2 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $7.1 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in West Chester Township (Butler Co.). Hydrotech distributes hydraulics, pneumatics, linear motion, drives and controls, lubrication and filtration products. The TCA approved a 45 percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

NORTHWEST

Sunland Logistics Solutions, Inc. (Sunland), City of Toledo (Lucas Co.) expects to create 40 full-time positions, generating $1.2 million in annual payroll as a result of the company’s new project in the City of Toledo (Lucas Co.). Sunland provides warehouse services, transportation solutions, and supply chain management solutions for the automotive, chemical, retail and paper industries. The TCA approved a 40 percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

TO BE DETERMINED

Barclays Services LLC (Barclaycard), (Location TBD) expects to create 1,500 full-time positions, generating $49.9 million in annual payroll as a result of the company’s new project at a to-be-determined location. Barclaycard issues Visa and MasterCard credit cards in addition to co-branded credit cards. The TCA approved a 70 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, (Location TBD) expects to create 45 full-time positions, generating $3.6 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $49 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s retention project at a to-be-determined location. Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems develops and supplies safety technologies for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, tractors, trailers, buses and other commercial vehicles. The TCA approved a 50 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Process Plus Holdings, Inc. (Process Plus), (Location TBD) expects to create 25 full-time positions, generating $2.3 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $10.6 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project at a to-be-determined location. Process Plus is an engineering and architecture firm, focusing on the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage industries. The TCA approved a 45 percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
