Kasich Responds to 10.8 Percent Workers' Compensation Rate Reduction Proposal January 22, 2015 COLUMBUS - Today the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation announced it is proposing a 10.8 percent reduction in rates for Ohio's private employers. The following response can be attributed to Rob Nichols, press secretary for Governor John R. Kasich. "Over the past five years, BWC has issued $2 billion in rebates, set aside more than $1.2 billion to modernize their billing process, created unprecedented investments in safety and, if approved by their board, will have reduced rates by more than 21%. This continued effort to keep our workplaces safe while reducing costs for employers is a great example of how we are working to help Ohio's businesses and workers. When coupled with tax cuts for businesses and all Ohioans, the acceleration of major infrastructure projects, and a concentrated effort to market Ohio to the world, we are showing why Ohio is the place to be."
