Kasich Signs Executive Order 2015-01K, Creating Task Force on Affordability and Efficiency in Higher Education February 10, 2015 COLUMBUS - Today Governor John R. Kasich signed executive order 2015-01K creating the Ohio Task Force on Affordability and Efficiency in Higher Education to examine ways for Ohio's public colleges and universities to hold down costs. The governor signed the executive order during a meeting with Ohio's public college and university presidents at the Ohio Statehouse (Franklin Co.). The new, nine-member task force will examine a number of opportunities where schools can lower costs and increase efficiencies, such as shared services and outsourcing, administrative staffing levels, more efficient space utilization, elimination of low-enrollment courses, intellectual property that has potential to be commercialized, and the use of technology to reduce costs. The task force will be chaired by The Ohio State University Chief Financial Officer Geoff Chatas. The governor will appoint five members of the task force and two members will be named by each chamber of the Ohio Legislature. The executive order, which can be viewed here, states that the task force should seek to complete its work and issue a report by October 1, 2015.
