Kasich Announces Appointment to Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, General Division March 6, 2015 COLUMBUS - Today Governor John R. Kasich announced the appointment of Sean V. McCarthy of Columbus (Franklin Co.) to serve as a judge on the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, General Division. McCarthy will assume office on March 16, 2015 for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends July 1, 2015. McCarthy is replacing Judge Timothy S. Horton, who has been elected to the Tenth District Court of Appeals. McCarthy received his bachelor of arts from Loyola University Chicago, his juris doctor from Capital University School of Law and attended graduate school for American Military and Diplomatic History at The Ohio State University. Prior experience includes various positions in the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office, including his current role as the deputy director of the Drug Prosecution Unit. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Afghanistan from 2011-2012. McCarthy is a graduate of the Army Judge Advocate Officer Advanced Course.
