New Projects Expected to Create More than $190 Million in New Investments

COLUMBUS – Today Governor John R. Kasich announced the approval of assistance for six projects set to create 272 new jobs and retain 421 jobs statewide. During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Collectively, the projects are expected to result in more than $14 million in new payroll, and spur more than $190 million in investments across Ohio.

Projects approved by the TCA include:

CENTRAL

Ace Hardware Corporation, Village of West Jefferson (Madison Co.), expects to create 72 full-time positions, generating $2 million in new annual payroll and retaining $5.6 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the Village of West Jefferson (Madison Co.). Ace Hardware is a hardware and garden goods retailer. The TCA approved a 0.988 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

American Electric Power Service Corporation, City of Groveport (Franklin Co.), expects to create 17 full-time positions, generating $2.2 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new project in the City of Groveport (Franklin Co.). American Electric Power Service Corporation provides management and professional services to American Electric Power Company, Inc. (AEP) and its subsidiaries. The TCA approved 100 percent, 15-year data center sales tax exemption for this project.

Prime Equipment Group, City of Columbus (Franklin Co.), expects to create 20 full-time positions, generating $945,000 in new annual payroll and retaining $7 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Columbus (Franklin Co.). Prime Equipment Group manufactures poultry processing equipment. The TCA approved a 1.189 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

WEST

Crown Equipment Corporation, Village of New Knoxville (Auglaize Co.), expects to create 63 full-time positions, generating $2.5 million in new annual payroll and retaining $5.5 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the Village of New Knoxville (Auglaize Co.). Crown Equipment designs, manufactures, distributes, services, and supports forklift trucks and other material handling products. The TCA approved a 1.309 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

The Fremont Company, Village of Rockford (Mercer Co.), expects to create 70 full-time positions, generating $2.6 million in new annual payroll and retaining $2.2 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the Village of Rockford (Mercer Co.). The Fremont Company  manufactures tomato-based sauces, sauerkraut products, and other specialty foods. The TCA approved a 1.248 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

TO BE DETERMINED

Smartrac Technology Fletcher, Inc., (Location TBD), expects to create 30 full-time positions, generating $4.1 million in new annual payroll and retaining $93,345 in existing payroll as a result of the company’s new project in a to-be-determined location. Smartrac Technology Fletcher develops and manufactures radio-frequency identification products, software, and Internet of Things solutions for a variety of  industries. The TCA approved a 2.188 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
