The Ohio Anti-Poverty Task Force

Governor Strickland signs an executive order, Wednesday, May 28, in Columbus, that establishes the Ohio Anti-Poverty Task Force.

Welcome to the Ohio Anti-Poverty Task Force.

On May 28, 2008, Governor Ted Strickland signed an executive order (2008 – 11S) creating the Ohio Anti-Poverty Task Force (Task Force) to provide practical shorter term and longer term strategic recommendations that the Administration should consider in its ongoing effort to reduce poverty in Ohio.

Thirty members were appointed to the Task Force including state agency representatives, faith-based and community nonprofit leaders, Ohioans living in poverty, business and labor leaders, and key anti-poverty stakeholders from around the state.  Additionally, over three hundred Ohioans participated in the five work groups of the Task Force.  Te view report summaries from the Regional Conversations on Poverty, please click here.

Thanks to the leadership of the Ohio Association for Community Action Agencies (OACAA) and the Ohio Community Action Agency network, over 1800 Ohioans, many of whom are low-income, participated in one of twenty-two Regional Conversations on Reducing Poverty.  Their input informed and strengthened the Task Force’s longer term recommendations.

Having delivered their shorter term recommendations to the Governor on September 10, 2008, the Task Force delivered to the Governor longer term recommendations on April 28, 2009. Click here to view the longer term recommendations and final report, and here to review the presentation provided by the Task Force on April 28.
