The Governor's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives has compiled resources which may be helpful to your organization. Within this section you will find links to articles, videos and books covering a variety of topics which may be of interest to you. Most of the services are publicly available, some newsletters may require a free registration, and some links lead to products which require purchase.

Becoming a Tax-Exempt Nonprofit

Ohio Secretary of State: Nonprofit Organizations.  Information on how to file as an IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non profit organization.

Internal Revenue Service: Tax Information for Charitable Organizations.  Information, requirements, and forms for nonprofit and prospective nonprofit organizations.

Applying for 501c3 Tax Exempt Status: The Internal Revenue has designed a brochure to help prospective charities apply for tax exemption under the tax law.

Center for Nonprofit Management: Information about the process of becoming a nonprofit organization.

Whatcom Council of Nonprofits: A guide on starting a nonprofit.  This guide is directed at nonprofits in the state of Washington, however most of the information has crossover applicability in Ohio.

Ohio Nonprofit Resources: An online community of nonprofit leaders, consultants and trainers specializing in capacity building and technical assistance for nonprofit organizations.
