Kasich and German Ambassador Discuss Economic Opportunities for Ohio and Germany May 7, 2015 COLUMBUS - Ohio Gov. John Kasich and German Ambassador Peter Wittig met today at the Statehouse to discuss opportunities for increased investment and trade between German and Ohio companies. After a private meeting — during which Kasich presented Wittig with a football signed by Ohio State football great Archie Griffin — Kasich and Wittig met with leaders from German companies with operations in Ohio. Earlier in the day Wittig gave a speech to the Columbus Metropolitan Club on the importance of the strong relationship between the United States and Germany. It was the recently-installed ambassador's first trip to Ohio. Germany is a major international investor in Ohio, with more than 22,000 Ohioans employed by German-based companies including Boehringer Ingelheim, Behr, Siemens, BASF, ThyssenKrupp and others.
